Facing the trends of energy saving and carbon reduction, Formosa Plastics Group has been proactively researching and developing the technology for the new generation green energy industry. One of the group enterprises -- Formosa Biomedical Technology Corporation which focus on consumption and living commodities launched the subsidiary Formosa Energy & Material Technology Co., Ltd ( FEMTC ) on May 20, 2008, to develop, manufacture and sell the new generation green power material-- lithium iron phosphorous oxide.

Through collaboration with CAEC., Ltd which has 14 years practice in the fields of cathode material and its appliances on batteries, FEMTC will be one of the few companies in the world which have the patents and ability to develop the new technology of the lithium iron phosphorous oxide cathode material and put into mass production. FEMTC have invested in setting up a production factory with area of 8,600M². Currently the production capacity is 180 tons/month, and will increase to 440 tons/month in 2012.
